Resources for Educators
In 2012, Connecticut passed a law (Public Act 12-173) related to students with disabilities. The law now requires school districts, upon request of a parent, guardian, student or surrogate parent, to provide an opportunity for that parent to meet with a member of the Planning and Placement Team (PPT) prior to the first PPT meeting, to discuss the PPT process and the parent’s concerns about their child. The resources in this section are intended to help school district staff communicate this information effectively with diverse families.
